Explored the Valley with Dad and learned how to fly fish in Lyell Canyon, on the eastern side of the park. Caught several small to medium-sized brook trout. First time casting in the backcountry.

Solo backpacked for a week in SEKI. Covered over 60 miles and 3,600M of elevation. Summited Twin Peaks (3,135M), confronted an adult black bear, and bushwhacked for two days to bypass an overflowing creek/snowed-out pass. First time solo in the backcountry.

Climbed for a week in Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Tagged peaks when the rock was too wet to climb. Led the Woodsman (5.9, 220’) and single-pitch sport routes up to 5.11a. First time night climbing and leading a multi-pitch sport route.

Learned fundamental mountaineering techniques and climbed Mont Blanc (4,808M) as part of a guided expedition. Almost got hit by rockfall crossing the Grand Couloir and witnessed a helicopter rescue on the summit. First time summiting a 4,000er/14er.

Excavated a section of Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana), a UNESCO World Heritage Site outside of Tivoli, Italy. Learned about archaeological fieldwork and recovered Roman artifacts, from pottery to glassware, not seen for thousands of years.
